Well another successful year has ended for Fox Valley Youth Hockey. The Board is now
beginning planning for next season and needs your help and input in the following ways:
During the Bantam Director election process, none of the individuals who received votes
accepted the position. As a result, this position is still vacant. You are not required to
have a Bantam age skater to fill this position.
Additionally, Heidi Bork, our Secretary, has decided to leave the Board this summer or as
soon as we can identify a replacement. This position is open to all members of the club.
The club members at the annual meeting added the ACE Director position to the Board.
This position will be appointed by the Board from a list of candidates who have
submitted their interest and background for the position. The Board also revised the
existing position of House Director to IP Director. This person will coordinate the off-ice
aspects of our intro programs so the coaches can focus on the on-ice aspects of the
program. This position is open to all club members.
Please send an email to Dohland@wipfli.com if you have an interest in any of these
Board positions.
We also have several volunteer positions that need to be filled for next season including
website administrator, ice / game scheduler and apparel coordinator. Dwight has put in
several years of service to FVYHA as the website administrator. We thank him for his
assistance and efforts with our website. The Club has approved the implementation of
Puck Systems as our website. For any of you that surf the websites of other clubs, this is
the system used by Appleton, DePere, Fond du Lac, Green Bay and many others. We are
looking for someone with some IT skills to assist in managing our website.
The ice / game scheduler position will be responsible for scheduling of games at the
region 3 scheduling meeting in August and managing the practice ice schedule
established by the President and ACE Director. The person will coordinate with
scheduler’s at other clubs about the addition / cancelling of games during the season.
This fall, we will be having our apparel fundraiser similar to what we did three years ago.
We are looking for a volunteer to identify the various apparel choices, select a vendor to
supply the merchandise, and manage 2-3 time windows when items can be ordered
If you have any interest in these positions, please contact Kelly Gmeiner, our Volunteer
Coordinator, at kgmeiner@tidiproducts.com or George Bureau at gbureau@new.rr.com.
We have decided to take a break from Hockey Unlimited in 2009 because we will be
hosting a tournament in late February and the State Squirt 2B tournament in early March.
The effort by the club during that two week window will be extensive. We are evaluating
have an informal event at the rink at the start of the season in October to kick off the
season. We anticipate having the 3-on-3 tournament again this fall on the first weekend
the ice is in.
In order to fund some rental equipment for our IP program, we will be rotating our Board
meetings at various locations this summer instead of meeting at Club West. Please check
the website for the time and location of our monthly meeting. Our April meeting will be
held at Holiday’s at 6:30PM on Thursday April 3rd. As a result, there may even be adult
beverage available at the meeting.
We anticipate registration starting in July and closing on September 1st. This will allow
the Board to make some decisions and verify the registration status of individual skaters
before anyone takes the ice. We recognize the change in the timing and anticipate a
payment schedule for registration fees similar to prior years.
Appleton Family Ice still has 10 tickets available for a bus trip to Chicago this Friday for
the Blackhawk’s game against Nashville. The cost is $100 and includes a $60 ticket and
motor coach transportation. Please contact Neil Anderson at 830-7679 ext 2 if you are
interested.
Have a great off-season and hope to see all of you back at the rink this fall!
